Wait till you see the fall tree paintings and drawings grades 3 and 4 made! They are amazing! Both grades created contour line drawings of trees through direct observation. As a way to learn about composition, students were encouraged to let the branches go right off the page. While grade 3 used dry brush technique to show the rough, bark texture of the tree, 4th grade went for a smooth, oil crayon silhouette against a warm colored sky.
