Narrative Poetry

The 7th grade just put on a marvelous performance of Wildcat Katie Brown! Each student played a part on stage and many students helped in other aspects as well.  I am so lucky that there are several dancers in the class who were able and willing to choreograph two dances that were great additions to the show.  Several students also worked on sound for the play by bringing an iPod into a plot set in 1907.  What a wonderful show!  I'm a very proud teacher!!!

Special thanks to Mrs. Brandt for making the Can-Can skirts.  Mrs. Wilinski and Mrs. Buchholz who were of great assistance at audition!  Mrs. Wiliniski also helped running lines with students and giving great encouragement to the actors (and director).  We are also very grateful to the other Middle School teachers who gave their time so we could be prepared.  PICTURES TO COME!

Narrative Poetry is our current unit of study in 7th grade.  We will be reading and discussing many types of narrative poetry including historical poetry, comedic poetry, and dramatic poetry. We will also look at songs that tell a story in the form of a narrative.

We were thrilled to welcome Mrs. Holland, a real life writer and musician, to our classroom to talk about how she writes a song.  It was a wonderful opportunity to see the process first hand.
