To Kill a Mockingbird

The 8th graders are currently reading To Kill a Mockingbird.  The novel, set in the 1930s, explores many great issues including getting the whole picture before judging.  One of my favorite quotes (one that all 8th graders need to know) is "You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view-until you climb into his skin and walk around in it." 

In addition to learning about the historical setting of this story, we will discuss how many issues in the novel are very present in our current time.  We will also look at the separation of social classes and raise awareness about true equality.
