7th Grade Research Essay

Has your 7th grader told you anything about Arlington National Cemetery or the Old Guard?  If not, be sure to ask.

In order to learn the process of research and writing a 5-paragraph essay, students have been learning about the Old Guard.  Each day, I teach a part of the research/writing process in class and then students work in groups on a particular task.  They will learn to identify reliable sources, take notes according to the questions being asked, create an organized outline, and put the information into a complete 5-paragraph essay. Students will work in groups during the research part and then each will write his/her own essay.
