WHAT TO BRING
The following list is for overnight experiences and is not exhaustive, but a guideline for what to bring. Please pack according to your needs and the weather.

Sleeping bag or several warm blankets/pillow
Outdoor clothing that is durable and can get a little dirty.

Please do not bring the following items: cell phones, beepers, electronic games or devices, knives or other weapons, or food.
Many of our programs are designed for outdoors, rain, snow, or shine. To make the experience enjoyable, please dress and pack appropriately. Space is limited, so try to pack lightly. You are responsible for carrying your own gear. Avoid packing in plastic or paper bags. Labeling items helps to avoid lost and found items as Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya cannot be held responsible for missing items.

OUTDOOR ADVENTURE LEADERSHIP PROGRAM
YMCA Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya At A Glance. . . Located 65 miles north of Green Bay, Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya rests in the wilderness and solitude of the Nicolet National Forest. Our 140 acres of woodlands include three bodies of water, marshlands, and the National Forest itself. Serving the community since 1937, U-Nah-Li-Ya is owned and operated by the Greater Green Bay YMCA and offers summer resident and adventure trip program, family programs, outdoor environmental education, retreats, and cabin rentals.
Adventure Leadership. . . Through the Outdoor Adventure Leadership Program it is our goal to instill and enhance personal growth, group cohesion, and leadership development through adventure and experiential activities in a wilderness environment.
Cooperation. . . Our workshops promote self confidence and group cooperation. Emphasis is place on appreciating and understanding the value of each individual in the group.
The Backbone. . . The Staff at U-Nah-Li-Ya take ownership in the Outdoor Adventure Leadership Program. Our staff demonstrate their dedication to the program through concern, friendship, and a desire to share knowledge and experience with others. Staff members are enthusiastic and motivated professionals with extended experience and degrees in a variety of fields. The staff hold current certifications in Professional CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguarding. In addition, our staff have been professionally trained and certified by the Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) to ensure a safe adventure experience.
Workshops. . . Our workshops include: Leadership In Action, Cultural Awareness and Diversity, Character and Group Development, Teams Challenge Course, Climbing Tower, and the High Ropes Course.
Health Care. . . Oconto Falls Hospital, Gillett Clinic, and the Mountain Ambulance service provide us with immediate health care services. We are serviced by a 911 emergency system.
Facilities. . . Modern, lakeside cabins, bathrooms, conference areas, and Dining Hall facilities make your stay at Camp U-Nah-Li-Ya comfortable and cozy. Three well-balanced, family-style meals are served daily in our spacious Dining Hall

Participant Responsibilities
To provide a sense of ownership in the program as well as instill a work ethic in participants of the Outdoor Adventure Leadership Program, we request assistance from participants in terms of light preparation and clean-up of tables, as well as minimal upkeep of cabins and facilities. Our staff will be aiding participants in these duties. The following is a list of tasks that participants will be responsible for:
IN SESSION DUTIES
Recycle paper, plastic, and aluminum
Observe safety rules and Camp policies
Respect: Nature, Staff, Chaperones, Peers, Self, and Facilities
MEAL PREPARATION DUTIES (Waiters)
Set tables
Chairs to tables
Place food on tables
Clear tables
Wash tables
Sweep Dining Hall floor
END OF SESSION DUTIES
Pack gear and bring it to the Dining Hall
Clean Cabins
Pick Up Litter
Chaperone Responsibilities - Chaperones are a vital part of the program and their assistance is greatly appreciated!
Assist in activity supervision and participant behavior management when required.
Stay with and supervise participants in their cabins and at meals.
Assist in coordination of cabin clean-up.
Assist in carrying out safety policies and procedures.
Supervise free time activities.
Assist in transportation supervision, and loading and unloading of luggage.
CURRICULUM OUTLINE
Leadership In Action:
Participants learn what leadership is and how to incorporate those characteristics and qualities into play in peer and social settings. Emphasis is placed upon decision-making, communication, and leadership styles. ( 1-2 hours)
Cultural Awareness and Diversity:
Activities focus on social change, heightening awareness of stereotypes and prejudices, and acceptance and celebration of human diversity. (1-2 hours)
Character & Group Development:
This workshop explores goals, values, and communication of the individual and group.
Activities stress the importance of a wide variety of group dynamics and teamwork. (1-2 hours)
Initiatives & Teams Challenge Course:
Groups are challenged by U-Nah-Li-Ya's Teams Challenge Course (low ropes course).
Each element or activity offers a unique challenge which the group must solve together.
The course is designed to promote self and group confidence, cooperation, teamwork, and communication. (2-3 hours).
Climbing Tower:
Groups will learn ropes, equipment, safety, and technique for climbing, belaying, and rappelling. Group trust, communication, and support are fostered throughout the climbing tower experience. Safety is our first concern, and our staff are all certified and experienced climbing instructors. (1/2 day)
High Ropes Course:
The high ropes course offers challenging elements amongst the trees which promotes self-confidence, cooperation, and communication. Our instructors are professionally trained and ACCT certified to lead a safe and exciting high ropes experience. The duration of the course is dependent upon the number and ability of group members. (1 day average)
